Ardith B. Oliver of Onawa, Iowa, died Thursday, November 27, 1997, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She had reached the age of 84 years, 11 months, and 8 days.

Mrs. Oliver was born December 19, 1912, in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Harry Arthur and Mabel Fern (Brenneman) Butcher. She graduated from Onawa High School and completed Normal Training. On December 31, 1930, she married David G. Oliver at Whiting, Iowa. The couple lived in Onawa until moving to Revilo Farm near Whiting in 1946. In 1981 they moved into Whiting. Mr. Oliver died April 21, 1983 in Onawa. She moved to Onawa in 1897.

She was a member of the Ashton Women's Club and the Congenial Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna Jean and her husband, Kenneth Barnes, Of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Ardith Hohbach of Marcus, Iowa; six grandsons; one granddaughter; eleven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Vivian Rolfs of Sun Lakes, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Harry Glenn Butcher and one grandson.

Private family graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 1, 1997, at the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa.

Casket bearers were Richard Barnes, Douglas Barnes, David Barnes, Oliver Hohbach, Tom Hohbach, and Cy Hohbach.

Arrangements were by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
