ONAWA, Iowa — James "Art" Rodman, 77, of Onawa died Thursday, Oct. 10, 1996, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Onawa with the Rev. Donald R. Ludwick, church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Pearson Funeral Chapel in Onawa.

Mr. Rodman was born March 20, 1919, in Castana, Iowa, the son of Isaac and Ida Belle (Kassing) Rodman. He attended school in Castana and served overseas in the United States Navy during World War II as a chief petty officer. He farmed in the Castana and Kennebec, Iowa, areas from 1945 until retiring in 1986. He moved to Onawa in 1975, and married Shirley Davis on Jan. 31, 1981, in Las Vegas, Nev.

Mr. Rodman was a member of Eagles Lodge 2270 of Onawa, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Monona County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2694.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; a son and his wife, Lyle and Teresa Butler of Onawa; a stepson, Larry Warren of Onawa; 10 grandchildren, Todd, Jason, Darren and Eric Warren, Barbara Skarin, Amanda and Kristopher Struble, and Ashley, Isaac and Lindsey Butler; five great-grandchildren; and a brother and his wife, Raymond and Helen of Chatsworth, N.J.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Benny, Glenn, Willis, Floyd, Elmer and George; and a sister, Ida Belle.
