Wayne Allan Parks, 76, of Onawa, Iowa, formerly of Whiting, Iowa, died unexpectedly. Thursday, July 10, 1997, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa.

Mr. Parks was born June 2, 1921, in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Fred & Alma (Harris) Parks. He attended country school. On June 2,1943, he married Marjorie Stanislav at Onawa. He farmed in the Onawa and Whiting areas, moving into Onawa on May 3, 1996.

He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Farm Bureau, both of Onawa, and a past member of the Eagles Lodge #2270 of Onawa. He loved horses.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; 5 sons, Donald of Onawa, William and his wife, Renae of Rainier, Washington, Tom and wife, Deb of Whiting, Fred and wife, Sara of Moorhead, and Larry and his special friend, Rhonda Weidt of Whiting; 3 daughters, Marylou Bellis and special friend, Larry Brenden of Whiting, Barb and her husband, Doug Thelander of Castana, Iowa, and Joann and her husband, Larry Clark of Pisgah, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Mary Stanislav of Onawa; 2 sisters, Joyce and her husband, John Comfort of Blencoe, and Eileen Bartlett of Waterloo, Iowa; and 3 cousins, Gilma Hall, and Jean Bandel, both of Onawa, and Berniece Campbell of Walthill, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Benton, and a sister, Donna Satter.

A Funeral Mass was held at 10:30 AM Monday, July 14, 1997, at St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa with Farther A.E. McCoy, Mass Celebrant. Mrs. Jack Jordan, organist, accompanied the soloist, Mr. Larry Clark in the selections "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace".

Honorary Bearers were Leo Hall, Lyle Mock, John N. Comfort, Charles Brenden, Russ Stauffer, Terry Hall, Dude Latterly, Don Long, and Charlie Eich.

Casket Bearers were Michael Parks, Mike Ellis, Jack Comfort, Jamie Parks, Gary Ellis, Wayne Parks, Shaun Thelander, Dick Comfort, Kevin Hall, and Rex Hall.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery at Onawa with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
