Charles G. Loomis, 82, of Onawa, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 7, 1997, at Elmwood Care Centre, Onawa, Iowa.

Mr. Loomis was born August 19, 1915, in rural Onawa, Iowa, the son of LeRoy G. and Maude (Tuttle) Loomis. He moved with his parents at age 3 to Lyons, Nebraska. He attended school in Lyons through the 9th grade before moving back to Onawa in 1930 with his parents. In 1933, he graduated from Onawa High School. On November 11, 1946, he married Elizabeth Alexander in Onawa. He was a lifelong Onawa area farmer.

He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa and the Onawa-Blencoe Knights of Columbus Council 62490.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth of Onawa; a daughter and her husband, Mary and Ron Winterboer of Fort Dodge, Iowa; a son, Paul of Onawa; a brother, Don of Onawa; and one grandson, Chad Winterboer of Denver, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harold and Wayne.

A Funeral Mass was held Friday October 10, 1997 at St. John's Catholic Church Onawa, Iowa, with Mass Celebrant Father A.E. McCoy. The organist was Mrs. James Stangel who played the selections "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace". Honorary bearers were Dennis Lawrence, Roy Wakehouse, Mike Christensen, Raymond Lee,
Bill Voss and Donald Parr.

Casket bearers were Raymond Low, Paul Benjamin, Delbert Heisterkamp, Charles Orsini, Kenneth Stangel, and Peter Mortenson.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa,Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
