ONAWA, Iowa-- Donald E. Loomis, 73, of Onawa died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Donald R. Ludwick officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Mr. Loomis was born Dec. 15, 1925, in Lyons, Neb., the son of LeRoy and E. Maude (Tuttle) Loomis. He attended school in Onawa, graduating from Onawa High School in 1943.

Following World War II, he farmed and established Loomis Trucking Co. in 1945. The company was incorporated in 1972. He was a Monona County supervisor for 28 years, retiring in 1996.

He attended First Christian Church. He was a member of Independent Order of Odd Fellow Lodge in Onawa and enjoyed sports.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Loomis of Onawa.; a nephew, Paul Loomis of Onawa; a niece and her husband, Mary and Ron Winterboer of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and a grandnephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Harold, Wayne and Charles.
