ONAWA, Iowa-- William Edward Torticill, 75, of Onawa died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Neb.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Catholic Church, with the Rev. Frank Nemmers officiating. Burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a rosary recited at 7:30 p.m., at the Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Mr. Torticill was born on Sept. 6, 1923, at Anthon, Iowa, the son of Leo and Marie (Spiegel) Torticill. The family moved to Salix and then to Blencoe, Iowa, where he attended Blencoe High School. He served with the United States Air Force from 1941 to 1945.

He married Rosalie Irish on Aug. 16, 1945, in Salix. The couple lived in Onawa their entire married life.

He was employed with the Army Corps of Engineers until his retirement in 1981.

He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Delane_ and his wife, Darlene, of Onawa, David of Salix, and Dennis and his wife, Kathy of Maxwell, Texas; five daughters, Dianne Writer of Vallejo, Calif., Debora Torticill of Richmond, Calif., Dannette Encloff and her husband, Mark, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Denise and her husband, Steve Struble of Sheldon, Iowa, and Doreen Heisterkamp and her husband, Kevin, of Onawa; 17 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Phillip and his wife, Anne, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Gary and his wife, Marci, of Tempe, Ariz.; and five sisters, Bette Marley and her husband, Jim of Blencoe, Delores Nutt of Des Moines, Agnes Mann of Kansas City, Mo., Teresa. Poulson and her husband, Ed, of Denver, and Mary Hosford of Milwaukee.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Mellissa; his parents; and a brother, Leo Joseph of Dakota City, Neb.

Memorial has been established with the Queen of Peace Memorial in Sioux City.
