ANTHON, Iowa--Mary Ann Pierce, 51, of Columbia, Md., formerly of Anthon, died Sunday May 16, 1999, in Columbia.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton, Iowa, with the Rev. Edmund Tiedeman officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. said by St. Mary's Guild and a vigil wake service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Pierce was born April 28, 1948, in Denison, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Berniece (Strait) Wimmer. She graduated from Anthon High School in 1966 and attended Collins Community College in Texas.

She married Gary Pierce on April 18, 1970, in Anthon. The couple lived in Plano, Texas and later moved to Columbia.

She was a member of St. John's Evangelistic Roman Catholic Church in Columbia.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Erik of Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter, Courtney of Columbia; a sister and her husband, Renee and Dick Anderson of Omaha, Neb.; four brothers and their wives, Myron and Janice Wimmer and James and Kay Wimmer, all of Kingsley, Iowa, Marvin and Kay Wimmer of Mapleton and Kelly and Rae Wimmer of Sergeant Bluff; and a granddaughter, Haley.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Candia.
