MAPLETON, Iowa— Dale Edward Laumbach, 69, of Mapleton died Tuesday, May 30, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Mapleton, with the Rev. Bob Fritzmeier officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery with military rites conducted by Little Sioux Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9124 of Oto, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mr. Laumbach was born Sept. 12, 1930, in Clinton, Iowa. His parents were Detlef Andreas and Hilda (Lille) Laumbach. He moved to Mapleton as a child and graduated from Mapleton High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Navy, then returned to Mapleton and farmed.

He married Dorothy Brownlee on June 3, 1951, in Ida Grove, Iowa. He was employed with Kueny Electric in Mapleton until about 1962. He was then employed with Jacobsen Brothers Construction, until retiring in 1984.

He was a member of Little Sioux Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9124.

Survivors include two sons, David and his wife, Betty of South Sioux City and Doug of Battle Creek, Iowa; two daughters and their husbands, Debra and Chris Tyler of Omaha and Dianna and Bill Hanna of Farnhamville, Iowa; six grandchildren, Brandon Cox, Wendy Gents, Kevin, Charissa and Christopher Laumbach and Nathan VanNess; six great-grandchildren; and a sister and her husband, Doris and Harold Astleford of Lake City, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter-in-law, Marcia Laumbach.
