Mary E. Kisling, 86, of Onawa, Iowa, formerly of Castana, Iowa, died Friday, November 5, 1999, at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa, Iowa.
Mary was born April 5, 1913, at Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of F. R. "Dick" and Marivena (Graybill) Kisling. She graduated from Castana High School in 1931. She was a homemaker and had lived in Castana all her life. She had been a resident of Elmwood Care Centre for 11 years and 9 months.
She was a member of Castana Community Church at Castana, Iowa, and enjoyed making crafts, gardening and family and friends.
Survivors include her brother, Fred Kisling of Castana; 3 sisters, Elva Weyant of Baldwin Park, California, Marjorie Dinger of Kaysville, Utah, and Phyllis and her husband, Les Dobrovolny of Castana; a brother-in-law, Gerald Thoreson of Hinton, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Alene Kisling of Ellicott City, Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Russell, Richard, and James; and 2 sisters, Alice Humphreys and Peggy Thoreson.
Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, 1999, at the Castana Community Church, Castana, Iowa, with Rev. Robert W. Fritzmeier officiating.
The organist was Mrs. Paul Petersen, Jr. The vocalists were Mrs. Harvey Hanson and Mrs. Bob Steiner. The selections were "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art".
Casket Bearers were Craig Thoreson, Norman Thoreson, Roger Braesch, Don Masters, Brad Hanson and Howard Hathaway.
Interment was in Center Cemetery, Castana, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
