WILLIAM EDWARD QUEEN LONG TIME RESIDENT OF ALBATON VICINITY DIED SEPT, 8, 1944
Funeral Services Were Held at Albaton Methodist Weslyan Church Last Sunday Afternoon at 2:30 O'clock.
Funeral services were held at the Albaton Methodist Weslyan church on last Sunday afternoon at two-thirty o'clock for William Edward Queen, a long time resident of that vicinity, and who grew to manhood in Monona county. Rev. A. L. Cretsinger, pastor of the church officiating. He took for his text John 5 the 28th and 29th verses. Three songs were sang by a quartette composed of Mr. and Mrs. George Ernest, Mrs. Gladys Nelson and Arthur Holmes. The songs sang were "Rock of Ages", "Jesus Lover of my Soul" and "Nearer My God to Thee."
The pallbearers were old neighbors of the deceased Wm. Gerking, Fritz Nelson, Lloyd Nelson, Otis Olson, Glen Swain and Harley Thomas. Burial was made in the Fairview cemetery.
William Edward Queen was born October 31, 1876 in Fremont County, Iowa, and passed away on September 8th, 1944 at the age of 67 years 10 months and 8 days at his farm home near Albaton.
He grew to manhood in Monona County,Iowa. He was married to Maggie Wight in 1899 at Soldier, Iowa.
To this union were born five children, all of whom are living. Gladys, Hazel, Howard, Maud and Harold.
He is survived by three sisters Viola Grary, Salemna, Rounds, and Rachel Anderson and one brother. He also leaves twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was greatly respected by everyone whom he knew and always thought first of others in his life.
His passing will be sadly missed by his family and the whole community in which he lived
