Robert Henry Melby, a resident of Moorhead, Iowa passed away April 1, 1978, at Burgess Memorial Hospital, Onawa, Iowa. He had reached the age of 53 years, 10 months, and 17 days.

Robert was born May 14, 1924 at Moorhead, Iowa, the son of Oscar and Christina Lundberg Melby. He was united in marriage to Marian Carrigan on September 19, 1944 at Soldier, Iowa. He was a member of the Soldier Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Marian of Moorhead, Iowa; three sons, Robert Eugene Melby of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; Vernon and Rick both of Moorhead, Iowa; one daughter, Tina Marie of Moorhead, Iowa; two grandchildren, John and Jessica; 5 brothers, Raymond of LeMars, Iowa, Earl of. Moorhead, Iowa Norman of Soldier, Iowa, and Clark and Wilbur both of Dunlap, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Harry (Ella) Schlensig of Soldier, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Larry, one sister, Olga, and one brother, Harry.

Services were held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, April 4, 1978 at the Soldier Lutheran Church at Soldier with Pastor William G. Carter officiating. The organist, Mrs. Harry Andersen, accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Charlie Benjamin, who sang "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross".

Bearers were Howard Andrews, Darrell Andrews, Glen Andrews, Ronald Hull, Bryan Melby and Terry Melby.

Interment was in the Soldier Lutheran Church Cemetery at Soldier with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier, Iowa.
