Mrs. Earl (Mildred Irene) Melby, Moorhead, Iowa, died on May 7, 1983 at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa. Death came at the age of 59 years, 9 months and 21 days.

She was born near Dunlap, Iowa, rural Monona County, on July 16, 1923. She was the daughter of Arthur and Nettie Bonar Price. On January 11,1947, she was united in marriage with Earl Melby at Onawa. The couple made their home at Moorhead.

Survivors are her husband, Earl, of Moorhead; a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Barbara) Ruffcorn of Blencoe, Iowa; a son, Maynard of Moorhead; two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd (Lucille) Wood of Dow City, Iowa, and Mrs. Ann Berry of Newberg, Oregon; one brother, Harold Price of Salem, Oregon, and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson and one brother, Leo Paul Price.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 1983 at the Soldier Lutheran Church, Soldier, Iowa, with Rev. William Carter officiating. The organist, Mrs. Ivan Gibbs, played "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art."

Casket bearers were Rick Melby, Vernon Melby, Dick Howard, Ralph Wood, Lloyd Wood and Virgil Ehlers.

Interment was in the Soldier Lutheran Cemetery, Soldier, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Soldier, Iowa.
