25 August 1994Viola Lover Meeker, 84, of Onawa, died August 17, 1994 at Burgess Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Meeker, the former Viola Adams, the daughter of Margaret(Maggie) Stansbury and Albert Adams of Blencoe, IA, was born October 16, 1909 in Mondamin, IA.
She attended Blencoe High School where she was on the basketball team. She graduated in 1928. She married Edward Ervin Meeker on June 20, 1928. Mr. Meeker died November 24, 1961. They had six children. She lived most of her life in and around the Onawa area. She worked as a nurses aide for 18 years at Burgess Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include four sons, Clarence of Hemet, CA, Cleo of Stockton, CA, Darrell of Manteca, CA, and Doyle of Onawa; two daughters, Wanda Hanks of Norfolk, NE. and Ramona Porter of Onawa; three brothers, Franklin Adams of Blencoe, IA, Albert (Bud) Adams of Blencoe, IA and Charles Adams of Escalon, CA; one sister, Evelyn Heineman, formerly of Blencoe, now residing at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two infant great-grandsons.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 1994, at the United Pentecostal Church in Onawa with Rev. Brian Kinney and Rev. Paul Kinney officiating. The pianist, Patricia Kermoade, accompanied the vocalists. Pam Kinney and Paul Kinney sang "What Heaven Means To Me" and Dawn Aloha Collier and Becky Collier sang "The Peace Speaker".
Casket bearers were Tom Maxfield, William Collier, Robert Collier, Victor Schlung, Gene Meeker and Daniel Hanks.
Interment was in the Graceland Cemetery at Blencoe, IA, with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, IA.
