Gordon L. Jenkins, 68, of Sioux City died Tuesday, April 8, 1997, in a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. John Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery at Whiting, Iowa. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 9 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mr. Jenkins was born Aug. 11, 1928, in Sergeant Bluff, the son of Edward and Letha (Cummins) Jenkins. He attended schools in Sergeant Bluff and Salix, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He married Kathryn White Beckner. After she died, he married Beverly (Steele) Faircloth on Dec. 14, 1973, in Elk Point, S.D. He farmed in the Salix and Whiting areas. He was employed at Hayes Ford in South Sioux City and for Chris Hansen Construction Company. After his retirement, he worked part time for Brothers Paper Box Company.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, John Jenkins of Sioux City; two stepdaughters, Janice and her husband Bruce Smith of Sioux City and Rita Heisler; three stepsons, Frank, Dale and Harvey Beckner; two brothers, Glenn Sr. of Sloan, Iowa and Lowell of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Evelyn Jenkins of Sioux City; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert.
