FORMER ONAWA RESIDENT BURIED

Etta M. West was born in Oswego, New York, April 13, 1851. In 1869 she came with her parents to Winneshiek County, living in the town of Ossian.

In 1870 the family moved to Spirit Lake,Dickinson county, Iowa, and during the year 1872 she was united in marriage to Frank H. Mead to whom eight children were born, of which one son survives the mother, Elihu Mead, of Coleraine, Minnesota. One brother and an aged father also survive.

Mrs. Mead has been a life long Christian uniting with the M. E. Church some twenty seven years ago and for many years she was a faithful worker in the local church. Mrs. Mead was counted among the older settlers of Onawa, but for the last several years has resided elsewhere. The services were held on Wednesday and burial was made in the Onawa cemetery. Her son, Elihu was here to bury his mother. He is now district superintendent of the N. E. Churches of Northern Minnesota.
