Jane C. Maynard ,72, died October 11, 1991 of cancer in Wilmington Hospital, where she was a patient.

Mrs. Maynard was a member of First Unitarian Church, Sharpley; League of Women Voters; Common Cause; Pacem in Terris; PEO sorority; American Association of University Women; Wilmington Trial Club; Women's Alliance of First Unitarian Church; American Civil Liberties Union; and Unitarian Universalist Service Committee.

She is survived by her husband, John Reed Long; five sons, the Rev. David Maynard of Nashville, Tenn., Craig Maynard of Cupertino, Calif., John Maynard of Berkeley, Calif., Dr. Edward Maynard of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Brian Maynard of Silver Spring; Md.; two stepsons, Stephen Long of Columbus, Ohio, and J. Craig Long of Chicago; a brother, Edward Corr of San Jose, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial services were held at 4 p.m. November 2 in the First Unitarian Church, Sharpley. Burial was private.

Editors Note: Jane Maynard was born and raised in Onawa, Ia. Her parents were Edward and Carrier Corr. Jane graduated from Grinnell College in 1941. She was valedictorian of her high school class in Onawa. She visited Onawa in June of 1991, after attending her 50th college reunion at Grinnell.
