UTE, Iowa — Wilbur Marion Rude, 73, of Ute died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, with the Rev. Edgar Bode officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute.

Mr. Rude was born April 15, 1925, in Willow Township, Monona County, Iowa, the son of Conrad and Olga (Larson) Rude. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith. He graduated from Soldier (Iowa) High School in 1943.

He married Arlene Jahn on June 1, 1944, in Ute.

He was employed as a farmer and trucker. He built and operated the Pleasure Inn until retiring in 1987. He also worked at Barnett Machinery Action in Ute. She died July 19, 1998.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Ronald and Cinda of Mapleton, Iowa, and Roger and
Theresa of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters and their husbands, Rita and Richard Smook of Luverne,
Minn., and Rose and Marvin Blankenship of St. Louis; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grand-
children; a brother and his wife, Clayton and Nadeen of Ute; two sisters and their husbands, Alice and Herbert Gosch of Castana, Iowa, and LaVonne and Floyd Leaver of Sioux City; two brothers-in-law, Cleon Swain of Fort Collins, Colo., and Ben Romsdahl of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Helen Swain and Anna Marie Thoreson Romsdahl; a daughter, Karen Arlene; a son, Russell Dean; and a niece.
