Martin Fred Peterson,73, lifelong resident of the Castana, Iowa area, passed away August 11, 1982, at the hospital in Onawa after a long illness.

He was born December 14, 1908 near Castana, Iowa, to Ludwig and Sena Gregerson Peterson. On April 2, 1932, he was united in marriage with Pearl Whitehorn at Elk Point; S.D. She preceded him in death May 19, 1949. On July 20, 1954, he was united in marriage with Fern Brown Peterson at Whiting, Iowa:, He farmed near Castana until retiring in 1971. He was an active member of the Church of Christ at Whiting, Iowa, and a past member of the R.E.C. Board from 1959-1970.

He is survived by his wife, Fern two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Marcena) Harding, Whiting, Ia. and Mrs. John (Elaine) McDonough, Los Angeles, Calif.; two sons, Philip, Maple Grove, Minn. and Donald, Yuma, Ariz.; one stepson, Walter Peterson, Jr. Prague, Nebr.; three sisters, Mrs. Stella Mackey, Bolivar, Mo.; Mrs. Raleigh (Agnes) Eller, and Mrs. William (Johanna) Carroll, both of Onawa, Ia. two brothers, Alfred, Junction City, Kansas; and Delmar, Reseda, Calif.; 1 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Pearl, an infant son, and two brothers Walter and Harry.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 14 1982, at the Church of Christ is Whiting, Ia.; with Robert Butt, Evangelist officiating. The organist was Mrs. Carl Linden and the soloist, Dan Neldeberg, sang "Precious Lord Take My Hand".

Casket bearers were Lowell Redmond, Marvin Redmond, Art Rodman, Leo Marley, Harold Anderson and Roger McCandless.

Interment was in the Grant Township Cemetery, Rodney, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
