27 June 2014ONAWA, Iowa | Joseph E. "Joe" Ries, 54, of Onawa passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Alegent Creighton Medical Center in Omaha from complications of cancer.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at West Center Chapel of Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler Mortuaries in Omaha. Condolences may be sent online to www.heafeyheafey.com.
A resident of Onawa, Joe was born on Dec. 28, 1959, in Sioux City, the son of Betty (Jones) and Dave Ries. He was employed as a project manager for Erickson Construction and was a member of SAL Post 374.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca; a daughter, Nicole; sons, Jeffrey (Liz), Robert (Nikki), and Ryan; grandchildren, Zachary, Justus, Ella and Ryu; brothers, Bill (Betty), Tom (Lisa), and Dan; sisters, Susan and Laura; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty; a brother, David; and two infant siblings.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Legion Millard Post 374 - SAL Squadron.
