Chalmer S. Cozine, 62, Whiting, Ia., died early Saturday in a local hospital.

Mr. Cozine was born August 9, 1876, at Iowa City, Ia., the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Cozine.

After spending his boyhood at Iowa City, he moved to Whiting in 1898 and there married Miss Woodson Whiting in 1900. She is the daughter of the late Senator Charles E. Whiting who had gone to Monona county in 1856 and built the original Whiting home, Woodlawn, in which Mr. and Mrs. Cozine had resided from the time of their marriage.

A well known farmer and stockman, Mr. Cozine was a member of the Masonic lodge at Whiting.

Surviving are the widow, a sister, Mrs. Jack Beckwith, and two brothers, Waldron of New Orleans. La., and Noble of Tuscon, Ariz.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at Whiting with Rev. R. C. Swisher of the Congregational church officiating. Burial was in the Whiting cemetery, directed by the McVey funeral home.
