ONAWA, Iowa | Frances Lucile Nelson, 92, of Onawa died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, with the Rev. Brian Kinney officiating. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery, rural Turin, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Frances Lucile was born on Dec. 18, 1921, in rural Castana, Iowa, the daughter of Elbert F. and Irene L. (Seaton) Dunbar. She was raised in the Castana area, where she attended rural one room school houses.

Frances and Clifford Wayne Nelson were united in marriage on Aug. 14, 1941 in Whiting. To this union three children were born.

Frances was a delicious cook and lovely homemaker. She loved watching West Monona girls basketball in the 1970s. She loved to travel and traveled much of the United States including Alaska and Hawaii. She also traveled to South America, Europe, including Russia, and fulfilled a lifelong dream of touring the Holy Land.

Frances was a woman of faith and prayer. She was a long time member of United Pentecostal Church in Onawa.

Frances is survived by her children, Kathie (Wayne) Rock of Onawa, Clifford E. Wayne (Kathleen) Nelson of Lafeyette, Colo., and Valli (Mark) Putnam of Andover, Ill.; grandchildren, Bradley (Katherine) Rock, Kristina (Kurt) Petersen, Kimberly (Steven) Huffman, Kelly Nelson, Matthew (Neika) Nelson, David (Audrey) Putnam, Michael (Caitlin) Putnam, and Annette Putnam; eight great-grandchildren, Brandi Rock, Rebecca (Chase) Graham, Joshua (Payge) Huffman, Eric Huffman, Alexander Maule, McKenzie Maule, Daniel Putnam, and Abigail Putnam; two great-great-grandchildren, Kadelynn Graham, Brock Graham, and baby boy Huffman due in August; and sisters-in-law, Doris Nelson, Eva Mae Nelson, Helen Nelson, Lenora Gloyer, Shirley (Guy) Richardson, and Kathryn Hanks.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Irene Dunbar; husband, Clifford Nelson; her beloved sister, Luella Picard; four sisters-in-law, Maxine Christianson, Ida Nelson, Nora Nelson, and Betty Nelson; and seven brothers-in-law, Raymond, Buster, Carl, Shorty, Jim, Johnny, and Milford Nelson
