Lifetime Resident of Onawa Laid to Rest

Robert C. "Dude" Jividen, a lifetime resident of the Onawa Community died Saturday, January 21, 1961, at Onawa after an illness of many weeks.

Mr. Jividen was a son of Matt and Sarah Jividen, born on February 11, 1886, at Onawa. Death came at the age of 74 years, 11 months and 10 days.

Throughout his lifetime he engaged in farming in the community. He had been retired from active work for several years.

On August 30, 1909, he was united in marriage to Kate Hawkins at Onawa, Iowa. He was a member of the Congregational church on Onawa.

His survivors include his widow, Kate; one son, Charles C. Jividen of Inglewood, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Henry (Edna M.) Strunk of Sioux City. Ia.; three brothers, Edwin, Roy and Pearl, all of Onawa; one sister, Mrs.Fred T. (Lenna) Evans of Sioux City; there are also three grandchildren, Mrs. Gary Johnston of Coon Rapids, Iowa, and Dwight and Robby Jividen of Inglewood, Calif.; two great-grandchildren; as well as a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

One son, Robert Lyle died in infancy.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, January 23rd at the Pearson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Dwight Snesrud conducted the services. Mrs. Willie Jensen sang "In the Garden" and "No Night There" accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Oliver Kelley. The casket bearers were Bin G. Gantz, Emil Sabatka, Amos Gantt, Eddie Miller, Henry Bolen and Siguard Hansen. Interment was in the Onawa cemetery.
