Ida F. Denney, 95, Onawa, Iowa died Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.

Ida was born October 21, 1909 at Logan, Iowa, the daughter of Levi and Regina (Herrmann) Martin. The family lived in various parts of Minnesota and Iowa. She attended Mann Country School in Monona County.

She married Floyd H. Denney December 22, 1926 at Onawa. The couple made their home and raised their family in the Blencoe and Pisgah areas before retiring to Onawa in 1973. They enjoyed time spent with their family and traveling. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in Hawaii.

Floyd passed away January 16, 1978 after 52 years of marriage.

Ida enjoyed gardening and her many flowers. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and WELCA and also Onawa Women's Club garden and art departments.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Otis and Shirley Denney of Onawa; Marlene and Richard "Dick" Ping of Onawa, Sharon and Charles Harris of Springfield, NE and Doyle and Melanie Denney of Grand Island, NE; 10 grandchildren; 2 step - grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 4 step - great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son and his wife, Vern and Mardell
Denney; 2 grandchildren; 6 brothers; a sister; a half brother and 2 half sisters.

Funeral services were 10:30 AM Saturday, June 18, 2005 at Faith Lutheran Church, Onawa with Pastor Steven Hetzel officiating.

Music selections were "One Day At a Time" and the congregation sang "Amazing Grace". Deb Lauritsen was organist. Burial was in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation was 5:00 - 8:00 PM Friday with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Rush Family Care Service, Onawa.

Casket bearers were Ida's grandsons, Lynn Hanson, Charlie Hanson and Michael, Neal, Douglas, Sean, Seth and Ty Denney. Honorary bearers were Cheryl and Joel Koenig and Jolene and Lon Ulven.
