MAPLETON, Iowa | Vicki Jo Hinrickson, 67, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Mapleton, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at an Omaha hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, with the Rev. Scott Jensen officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery at Castana, Iowa. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Vicki Jo Hinrickson was born Jan. 19, 1947, at home in Mapleton, the daughter of George and Darlyne (Howland) Hinrickson. She grew up in Mapleton and graduated from Maple Valley High School in 1965. She moved to Wisconsin and worked at Marquette University.

She later moved to Sioux City, where along with being employed, she graduated from Briar Cliff College in 1984 with a degree in accounting. Upon moving to Allen, Neb., she worked in her chosen career at Co-op.

Returning to Sioux City in 1991, Vicki worked primarily at MCI. Later she moved to Omaha and worked at First Data Resources until her retirement.

Survivors include two daughters, Noelle (Dave) Kunkel of Omaha, and Heather (Brian) Thornton of Denham Springs, La.; three grandchildren, Samantha Hinrickson, Makenzie Servis and Ian Johnson; a great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Barbay; three brothers, Roger (Chana) Hinrickson of Smithland, Iowa, Duane Hinrickson of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Alan (Nita) Hinrickson of Pocahontas, Iowa; many other extended family members; longtime cherished friend, Nan Bookhart of Sioux City; and many other close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
