AMY PEIFFER

Amy Dorothy Peiffer, of Onawa, and formerly of Moorhead, Iowa, died on Tuesday, January 12, 1988, in Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa following a long illness. Death came at the age of 87 years, 1 month and 11 days.

She was born December 1, 1900, in Rodney, Iowa. She was married to Joseph Earl Peiffer January 3, 1922, in Cherokee, Iowa. The couple made their home at Onawa, Sioux City and Ticonic before returning to Onawa. Mr. Peiffer died October 6, 1960, at Onawa. Amy moved to Moorhead in 1970 and had been a resident of Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting since 1986.

She had a lifetime Methodist Church affiliation.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Vonda) Yanak of Moorhead, Mrs. Melvin (Margaret) Wyland of Onawa, Mrs. Daniel (Betty) Kent and Mrs. Robert (Tressia) Buchanan, both of Jacksonville, Fla. and Mrs. Phillip (Shirley) Brown of Huntington, Ind.; a son, Herbert Tracy Peiffer of Lake Forest, Minn.; 24 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; and 15 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; seven sisters; three brothers; and two sons, both in infancy.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 1988, at Pearson Funeral Chapel, Onawa, Iowa, with Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. The organist, Mrs. Vince Phillips, play “How Great Thou Art” and “Sunrise”.

Casket bearers were Grant Mann, Terry Mann, Darrell Andrews, Fred Yanak, Neal Mann and Leo Mann.

Interment was in the Grant Cemetery, Ticonic, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
