Richard L. Bumsted, 61

Richard L. Bumsted, age 61, of Council Bluffs, passed away June 15, 2011 at House of Hope Hospice House in Omaha. Richard was born October 29, 1949 in Charter Oak, Iowa to the late Lloyd and Helena (Kruse) Bumsted, and was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, Iowa.

He graduated from Charter Oak-Ute High School in 1967 and earned his teaching degree from U.N.I. in 1971. Richard taught American History, U.S. Government and Sociology at Lewis Central High School in Council Bluffs from 1971-1993 and worked at Eddies Gas Station for 20 years.

Richard was very active in Wednesday Night Teachers Bowling.

He is survived by daughter, Amy (Robert)Warengo of Phoenix, Arizona; son, Chad (Jennifer) Bumsted of Council Bluffs; grandchildren, Jacob Bumsted, Madelyn Warengo, Joshua Bumsted, Dalton Warengo, Lucas Bumsted; sisters, Joan (Leonard)Trimpe, Karen (Marvin) Koch all of Ute, Iowa, Judy (Mike) Denny) of Schaller, Iowa; brother, Bob (Rose) Bumsted of Soldier, Iowa; nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family, Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service, Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary with Rev. Chuck Kottas officiating.

A lunch will immediately follow the service at St. Peter's Social Hall. Interment, Tuesday, June 28, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at St. Clair Cemetery, Ute, Iowa. Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association preferred.
