EARL B. BENNETT

Earl Buford Bennett, 67, Salix, Iowa, died on Sunday, October 4, 1987, near Salix.

He was born July 9, 1920, at Conway Springs, Kansas, the son of Walter and Ollie (Miller) Bennett. He was an army veteran of World War II, having served from July 23, 1942 until September 28, 1943. He had worked as a road grader operator for Woodbury County since August 10, 1951, until the time of his death.

He was baptized in a Baptist Church in Missouri.

Survivors include three nieces, Georgia Robinson, Louise Stephens and Liseeta Dean and one nephew, Robert Baker.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 1987, at the Wood Funeral Chapel in Sloan with Rev. Stanley Long officiating. The organist, Mrs. Glen Miltenberger, played “The Old Rugged Cross”.

Bearers were Michael Lloyd, Raymond McCoy, Edward Lamoureux, William Shreve, Warren DeWall and Chester Godfredsen.

Interment was in the Sloan Cemetery with Graveside Military Services by Smith-Rhodes Post No. 295, American Legion of Sloan, Jim Hendricks, Commander.

Arrangements were by the Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
