RUBY McCALL HASENPFLUG

Ruby McCall Hasenpflug, 91, of Castana died Tuesday, September 15, 1987, in Burgess Memorial Hospital, Onawa, Iowa, after a long illness.

Mrs. Hasenpflug, the former Ruby Mathison, was born March 18, 1896, in Jordan Township, near Soldier. She graduated from Castana Normal School and taught in rural schools. She married Russell McCall in 1918 at Castana. The couple lived at Turin and moved to Castana in 1931 where she operated McCall's Café from 1938 until 1945. On October 2, 1945 she married Albert Hasenpflug in Onawa. They lived in Danbury from 1948 until 1956 when they moved to Castana. He died July 8, 1976.

Mrs. Hasenpflug was a member of Castana Community Church and Ladies Aid of the church. She was a 57-year member of Rebekah Lodge and served as treasurer for 21 years. She was a member of Grimsley-Thayer Post 502, American Legion Auxiliary of Castana.

Survivors include a son, Lloyd McCall of Sioux City and a stepson, Melvin Hasenpflug of Sacramento, Calif.

Services were held Friday, September 18, 1987 in Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton. The Rev. Jerry Quandt officiated. Burial was in Kennebec Cemetery near Castana.
