J. MARWIN KUTZLER

J. Marwin “Muff” Kutzler, Sloan, Iowa, died unexpectedly on Friday, August 21, 1987, while vacationing in Alexandria, Minn., of an apparent heart attack. Death came at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 8 days.

He was born October 13, 1912, at Salem, South Dakota, the son of LeeRoy and Clara (Hanson) Kutzler. He lived at Salem, Aberdeen and Sioux Falls, S.D., prior to moving to Sloan in 1930. He married Lorraine Dahl on July 30, 1936, in Sioux Falls. He was a lifetime area farmer, retiring in 1955.

He was a member of Skien Lutheran Church at Albaton.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine of Sloan; three sons, Roger, Marlon and Rodney, all of Sloan; seven grandchildren; and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 1987, at the Skien Lutheran Church at Albaton with Rev. Peter V. Boe officiating. Mrs. Norman Westergaard, the organist, accompanied Ronald and Esther Ernst in the selections “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art”. The congregation sang “He Leadeth Me”.

Bearers were Tim Bakke, Jason Dahl, Larry Nelson, Gary Hicks, Ray Copple and Myron Nelson.

Interment was in Fairview Cemetery at Albaton with arrangements by the Pearson and Wood Funeral Homes, Onawa and Sloan, Iowa.
