JOSEPH “JOE” E. BROOKS

Joseph “Joe” E. Brooks, 73, died May 11, 1987, in Portland, Oregon. He was born November 25, 1913, in Mondamin, Iowa.

Joe was an employee of the Council Oak Store, in Onawa, back in the ‘30’s and ‘40’s, with Walt Shear as Manager. Later Joe became Manager and was well-known by many in the area.

Services were held Thursday, May 14, 1987, at the Kern Park Christian Church with Rev. Bryan Wilhite, Rev. Dwight Woodruff and Rev. Edith Parrish officiating. Sue Lincoln was organist and played the selections, “The Bright Tomorrows”, “Let’s Just Praise the Lord” and “Because He Lives”.

Honorary Bearers were Vern Chenoweth, Harry Bergland, Virgil Webb, Orrell Grendahl, Virgil Rocks, Vern Lang and Gary Kemp.

Interment was in the Willamette National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Lincoln Willamette Funeral Directors.
