MARIE SKOW

Marie Skow, 79, Moorhead, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 6, 1987, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebr. following heart surgery complications.

She was born May 2, 1908, at Ute, Iowa, to Andrew C. and Minnie (Bramson) Christensen. She graduated from Soldier High School in 1926 and worked for a time at Sandvold Brothers Store in Moorhead. She attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls and taught in area rural schools before and after her marriage. She married Wilber L. Skow on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1930, at the Christian Church Parsonage in Moorhead. The couple lived their entire married life in Moorhead. Wilbur died March 7, 1987, at Onawa.

Marie was an active member of the Moorhead Christian Church and Christian Women’s Fellowship. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America and was Past Worthy Matron of the Moorhead Chapter No. 528 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and a special friend to all who knew her.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Glen (Barbara) Holverson of Soldier and Mrs. Glenn (Constance) McBurney of Council Bluffs; one son, Wilbur L. of Greeley, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wilbur, and four brothers.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 1987, at the Moorhead Christian Church, Moorhead, Iowa, with Rev. John McGee officiating. The organist was Mrs. Charles Kratz and the soloist, Craig Swenson, sang, “How Great Thou Art” and “In the Garden”.

Casket bearers were Robert Skow, Richard Skow, Jim McBurney, Doug Holverson, Bruce Lauber, Steve Millhollin and Michael McBurney.

Interment was in the Spring Valley Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
