RAYMOND HAROLD REDMOND

Raymond Harold Redmond, 75, Sloan, Iowa, died Saturday, April 18, 1987, at Marian Health Center in Sioux City, Iowa, of an apparent heart attack.

He was born February 17, 1912, on a farm at rural Whiting to Leo and Matilda (Brenden) Redmond. In 1914 he moved to Fairfax, South Dakota, with his family and returned to a farm near Whiting in 1935. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps for about three years. He was a longtime Whiting and Sloan area farmer, retiring in 1975. He moved into Sloan in 1976. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was a member of Skien Lutheran Church at Albaton and the Emery Johnson American Legion Post 481 at Whiting.

Survivors include four brothers, Gale of Sloan, Marvin of Castana, Glen of Gretna, Nebr., and Lowell of Onawa; and two sisters, Mrs. Vivian Livermont of Wanblee, S. D., and Mrs. Carl (Helen) Carlson of Sloan; and 10 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Leland; and one sister, Mary.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 1987, at Skien Lutheran Church, Albaton, Iowa, with Pastor Peter Boe officiating. The organist was Mrs. Norman Westergaard and the soloist, Mrs. Ronald Ernst, sang, “How Great Thou Art” and “It Is Well with my Soul”.

Casket bearers were Maurice Brenden, Wally Parker, Wayne Peterson, Clyde Johnson, Gordon Copple and Gerald Docken.

Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery, Albaton, Iowa, with arrangements by Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
