CASTANA, Iowa -- Faye K. Emmart, 58, of Castana, beloved wife of Eugene K., died Sunday, June 26, 2005, at her residence after a courageous eight-month battle with brain cancer. It was her wish to die at home surrounded by her husband, daughter and son. Through the support of Hospice of Siouxland, this was made possible.

Graveside services will be at a later date. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa, Iowa.

Faye was born April 3, 1947, in Gary, Ind., to Charles and Gene Keenan. She grew up in Gary.

In 1965, she married the love of her life, Eugene K. Emmart of Chicago. They were wed in a small chapel in Portage, Ind. To this union two children were born, a daughter, Tammie, and a son, Bruce. The couple lived most of their lives in the Illinois area, then moved to Hornick, Iowa in 1987. In 1997, they chose to moved to a small acreage in Castana.

She was employed in the health care industry for many years, primarily with the elderly. She enjoyed helping others and making friends. Most recently, she was employed at Pleasant View in Whiting, Iowa until she was stricken with brain cancer.

She enjoyed her family and everything stopped when the grandchildren arrived, as she loved to be with them. She could often be found playing games with them or outside with her dog, Bandit. She made many friends and cherished each one. She enjoyed her flowers and waiting for the birds in the morning.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband and best friend of 40 years, Eugene K.; a daughter and her husband, Tammie and Bobby Queen, and their sons, Barrett and Grant, of Turin, Iowa; a son and his wife, Bruce and Becky Emmart, and their daughters, Chelsey and Jena, of Turin, Iowa; two sisters, Renee and Bette; two brothers, Eugene and Conrad; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Keenan; and her mother, Gene Keenan.

Faye wanted everyone to know that "It was a good life. I have a wonderful husband who gave me two great children and their families."
