Robert L. “Bob” Hinrichsen 1937 - 2014

Bob Hinrichsen of Ute passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 13, at Eventide Nursing Home in Denison following a lengthy illness.

Robert Lee Hinrichsen was born in Ute Oct. 1, 1937, the son of Chris and Katherine Hinrichsen. He grew up, lived, and worked in the Ute community his whole life. When young, he worked on road construction.

In July 1965, Bob married Norma Kruse and worked for Gregerson Elevator. They had two sons, Michael and Robert.

Bob became owner and operator of “Bobs Feed Service” in Ute in 1980, where he sold Nutrena Feeds, Funks G Hybrid Seed and Pioneer Seed to the local farmers. In 2009, he closed the business due to declining health. Bob also drove school bus for the Charter Oak-Ute Community School District for many years.

He was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Mapleton. He was also a member of the Ute Volunteer Fire Dept., the Ute Jaycees/Navajos, and a very active member of the Ute Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the Ute Town Council. His favorite hobbies were building and racing stock cars, drag racing, pick-up pulls and softball.

Those survivors left to celebrate his memory are his sons, Michael Hinrichsen and wife Laurel of St. Croix USVI and grandchildren Jesse and Morgan and Robert Hinrichsen and wife Jennifer of Glendale, Ariz., and grandchildren Jayson and Roberta, one brother Lloyd Hinrichsen and wife Loretta of Ute, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Benny and John; and sister, Freyda Schneekloth.

Funeral Service was Saturday, Jan. 25, 11 a.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute with Pastor Karen Handke officiating.

Message in Music included “Pray For Me” on CD by the Bellamy Brothers and “Take My Hand Precious Lord” on CD by Elvis Presley.

Visitation was Friday, Jan. 24, from 5-7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Visitation was also held Saturday one hour prior to the service at Armstrong Funeral Home, Ute.

Interment was at St. Clair Cemetery, Ute.

Everyone attending was invited and encouraged to return to Armstrong Funeral Home’s Fellowship Hall following the interment for a time of sharing food and memories.
