SLOAN, Iowa | Nadine "Bonnie" Parker, 89, of Sloan died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Skien Lutheran Church in Albaton, Iowa, with the Rev. Craig Bock officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Albaton, with military rites provided by the American Legion Smith-Rhodes Post 295 of Sloan. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Nadine Yuvonne was born on Nov. 21, 1924, in Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Frances (Revel) McNutt. She grew up in the Castana, Iowa, area and graduated from Castana High School in 1942. She also received her accounting degree from National Business Training. Bonnie served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II from April 1945 to September 1946, in medical labs stationed at Muroc Air Force Base and March Air Force Base in California. She was honorably discharged as corporal on Sept. 30, 1946.

Bonnie and Wallace "Wally" Parker were united in marriage on Jan. 30, 1954, at Skien Lutheran Church in Albaton. Bonnie worked for Concrete Products, Palmer Candy Company, and Case, all in Sioux City.

Bonnie loved spending time with the love of her life, Wally, her children, and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, playing cards, bowling, bookkeeping, and leading Boy Scouts. Bonnie was a loving person who had a zest for life, and always enjoyed a great joke.

She was a 50-year member of Order of The Eastern Star and Past Worthy Matron. She was also a member of the Sloan Golf Course, Extension Council for Monona County, and Skien Lutheran Church, where she served as Sunday School teacher and served many funeral lunches with the ladies group.

Survivors include her husband, Wallace "Wally" of Sloan; two sons, William W. Parker of Houston, Texas, and James B. (Mary) Parker of Sloan; grandchildren, Megan Parker of Ida Grove, Iowa, Joanna Parker of Sloan, Mitchell Parker of Sloan, and William W. Parker Jr. of Houston; and brother, Charles (Mary Lynn) McNutt of Grand Junction, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Darrell (Edalene) McNutt; and a sister, Donna Belle (Bob) Craig.
