Ival "Ike" E. Shook, 90, of Onawa, Iowa died Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Dennis Burns officiating. Burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the Rush Family Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Ival Edison Shook was the youngest child of Grace Lee (Moore) and Fred Anthony Shook. He was born October 19, 1923 in rural Monona County, Iowa.

"IKE" was a lifelong resident of Onawa and the surrounding area. His passion was music. He was a self taught musician, playing the guitar, mandolin, trumpet, and banjo. He was a great entertainer and had a terrific singing voice. He and his band played every Saturday evening for many years. He certainly enjoyed having fun and sharing his musical talents.

He is survived by his son, Thomas I. Shook of Onawa, IA; daughter, Joan A. Allen of Waite Park, MN; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy L. (Steve) Ost of Onawa, IA; grandchildren, Tom (Missy) Allen of Wichita, KS, Joni (Matthew) "Ost" Karl of Northfield, MN, Tony (Karen) Allen of Inver Grove Heights, MN, David (Sheila) Ost of Omaha, NE, Julee Shook and Lee Kirkpatrick of Onawa, IA; great grandchildren, Christopher (Kristen), Brittany and Jordyn Allen, Allison Karl, Trenton and Garrison Allen, Avery, Olivia and Jackson Ost, Austin, Dawson, and Shylee Kirkpatrick; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Jeffery T. Shook; daughter-in-law, Elaine K. Shook; former wife, Mary Jane Shook, and loving companion, Margie Kincaid; parents, Fred and Grace Shook; sisters, Helen Shook, Bernice Mock, Mildred Sammons, and Lucille Walker; brothers, Herbert and Dick.
