BLANCH L. ERICKSON

Blanch L. Erickson, lifelong resident of the Blencoe community, died on January 11, 1987, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa, following a long illness. Death came at the age of 92 years, 10 months and 10 days. She had been a resident of Elmwood Nursing Home in Onawa since 1979.

She was born in rural Blencoe on March 1, 1894, the daughter of John and Clara (Weaver) Kerr. On September 4, 1912, she was married to Carl C. Erickson in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Mr. Erickson died December 14, 1974, at Onawa.

She was a member of Blencoe United Church of Christ Congregational and the Royal Neighbors of America.

Survivors include her two daughters, Mrs. Newell (Clarice) Keele of Blencoe and Mrs. Jack (Irene) Hogue of Odebolt; seven grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Dot Marley, and an infant brother, Hugh.

Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 1987, in the United Church of Christ Congregational at Blencoe with Rev. Donald Stoll officiating. Mrs. Vince Phillips, the organist, accompanied Mrs. Fred Gibson who sang “Take My Hand Precious Lord”.

Bearers were Thomas Carritt, Leo Marley, Carl Schultz, Delbert Collison, Robert Comfort and Gene Kelley.

Interment was in Little Sioux Cemetery at Little Sioux, Iowa, with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
