MAPLETON, Iowa | Mary L. Kluver, 78, of Mapleton, the loving wife of Vertus "Pete" Kluver, passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital.

Per Mary’s wishes, private services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mary Lee Kluver was born on Jan. 21, 1934, at St. Petersburg, Fla., the daughter of Cornelius Buell E. and Allie May (Black) Knight. She moved to Alameda, Calif., and later to southern California.

Mary was united in marriage to Vertus "Pete" Kluver in 1973 in Las Vegas, Nev., and resided in Cucamonga, Calif. The couple moved to Mapleton five years ago.

She is survived by her husband, Vertus "Pete" Kluver; three sons, Robert (Suzie) Scott of Orlando, Fla., Neil (Patty) Scott of Nampa, Idaho, and Virgil Scott of Gardnerville, Nev.; one daughter, Donna Keaton of Powder Springs, Ga.; three stepsons, Geoffrey (Sandy) Willey of Las Vegas, Chuck (Mary Ann) Willey of Yuba City, Calif., and John (Judy) Kluver, Sr. of Apple Valley, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; two brothers, Gene Knight of Ogden, Utah, and J.W. Knight of Summerfield, Fla.; and one sister, Louise Buqette of Fort Myers, Fla.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Fred and Charlie Knight.
