Lenore Phipps, 70, of Blencoe died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at her home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Onawa (Iowa) Bible Baptist Church, with the Rev. Matt Sperling officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Blencoe. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Nellie Lenore was born Sept. 19, 1941, in Onawa, the daughter of Raymond and Nellie (Molle) Gahm. She was raised and lived in the Blencoe area her entire life. She graduated from Blencoe High School in 1959. She attended Wayne (Neb.) State College.

Lenore married Gary Phipps on Oct. 8, 1959, at Elk Point, S.D. They had two sons.

Lenore worked various jobs. She helped on the family farm while raising her two sons, and then worked for M&J Café as a waitress. Her main occupation and enjoyment was driving school bus for West Monona Schools for the last 37 years, retiring in May 2012.

She was a member of Onawa Bible Baptist Church and Blencoe City Council.

Lenore loved all animals, especially her horses, cats and dogs. She had a kind heart and was always willing to help her family and friends. She enjoyed and loved all her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a diligent fan at any of her family's sporting events, where her voice carried over all other fans. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and students she kept safe on the school bus during the years.

Survivors include her husband, Gary of Blencoe; two sons, Bryan (Kristi) Phipps of Atkins, Iowa, and Barry (Becky) Phipps of Omaha, Neb.; two grandsons, Ben Phipps, and Brad (Shantel) Phipps; a granddaughter, Elisa Phipps; three great-grandchildren, Izzy, Addie and Ava; her sister, Kathryn (David) Cummins of Onawa; sisters-in-law, Dona (Don) Kelly of Moore, Okla., Kathy (Dutch) Revenboer of Edmond, Okla., and Becky Wakehouse of Onawa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
