Mrs. Minnie G. Johnk, 89, of Mapleton died Sunday, April 27, 1986 in Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton. The Rev. Richard Hempenius officiated. Burial was in Heisler Cemetery at Mapleton. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Mrs. Johnk, the former Minnie G. Sonksen, was born Oct. 27, 1896 to Ferdinand and Johanna (Boock) Sonksen, near Denison. She married Fred Johnk February 26, 1919 at Mapleton. The couple farmed in Cooper Township until 1924 when they moved to Oto. They operated a tavern in Oto and also the Cottage Cafe. In 1960 they moved into Mapleton. Mr. Johnk died February 19, 1970.

Mrs. Johnk was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ and the Wednesday Breakfast Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, two brothers, one half-brother, two half-sisters, and three stepsisters.

Survivors include a son, Carl of Mapleton; three grandsons, and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Marvin Eskildsen, Henry Weifenbach, Norman Cleveland, Dan
Fitzpatrick, Bill Corbin and Daryl Cooper.
