Arthur Hans Gosch, age 86, of Battle Creek died Monday, October 18, 1993, at Willow Dale Care Center, Battle Creek.

Services were held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek with the Rev. Benjamin Ray officiating. Burial was in Heisler Cemetery at Mapleton. Visitation was after noon Tuesday at the Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Battle Creek.

Mr. Gosch was born November 6, 1906, in Ute, Iowa, the son of Henry and Kathrine (Behrendsen) Gosch. He attended school in Ute, Iowa. On February 14, 1943, he married Alvera Christiansen in Ute. They farmed in the Ute, Mapleton and Battle Creek area. In addition to farming, Arthur was a self-employed carpenter and builder. In 1973, they moved into the home in Battle Creek that Arthur had built.

Mr. Gosch was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek.

Survivors include his wife, Alvera: a daughter and her husband, Jane and Frank Schrunk of Danbury; a son and his wife, Gail and Pat Gosch of Parkersburg; three grandsons, Damon Schrunk, Jeremy Gosch and Jody Gosch; two granddaughters, Tracy Schrunk and Tina and her husband. Garth Lords; three brothers, Henry and his wife, Helen Gosch of Ute, Glenn and his wife, Luella Gosch of Harlan and Walter Gosch of Schleswig; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and Erhard Gosch; and a sister. Irene Maack.

Pallbearers were Al Schreiber, Orien Pattison, Winn Schramm, Burdell Vohs, Alvin Schultz and Wesley Husted.

Arrangements were made under the direction of the Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home of Battle Creek.
