Catharine C. Castle who died at her home in Cooper Township on March 21, 1900, at the age of 64 years was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, March 21, 1836, and in 1843, with her parents moved to Louisville, Ky. where in 1848 both parents died leaving her the oldest of family of six children, of which two brothers and two sisters survive.

At the age of nineteen she was united in marriage to Louis N Castle, and moved to Indiana in 1859. In 1865 they came to Monona County, where the husband died five years later. She has since resided on the old homestead where she died. Six children survive her two having preceded her several years ago.
