Mrs. Newman Is Buried Wednes.

Funeral Services Are Held At Ticonic with Burial In Grant Cemetery-

Funeral services for Mrs. John H Newman, 38-year-old resident of the Mapleton community who passed away .Monday of last week in St. Joseph's hospital in Sioux City following an operation, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 oclock in the Methodist church at Ticonic. Rev A Pruitt officiated.

Interment was in Grant Cemetery under the direction of the Byers Funeral home of Mapleton.

Leo Dean, Leo Mc Grain, Lawrence Mc Grain, Chris Jensen. Lum Martin and Earl Means served as pallbearers.

Hazel Irene Burke daughter of Charles and Etta Burke was born November 2, 1902, near Soldier. She spent her entire life in Monona and Woodbury counties with the exception of 8 mouths in Minnesota.

She was married January 11 1921 in Onawa to John H. Newman of Ticonic.

She is survived by her husband and four children, Cecil I8, Norma l6, Charlene 14, and Richard 12.

She also is survived by her aged parents of Turin, six sisters, .Mrs. Harley Wallace of Ida Grove, Mrs. Edwin Norby of Blencoe, Mrs. Raleigh Kendall of Grant Center, Miss Florence Burke of Sioux City, Mrs. Ralph Leetch of Onawa and Mrs.
Charles Newman of Anthon, and four brothers, Clarence of Turin and Harry, Donald, and Milfred of Los Angeles. Cal.

Her father and sister, Mrs. Raleigh Kendall, were unable to attend the funeral as they were patients In a Sioux City hospital.

Mrs.. Newman's death was the first in the Burke family of 11 children 35 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
