Charles Newman, 70 Dies Following Stroke at Home in Ticonic

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Ticonic for Charles Newman 70-year old pioneer resident of Ticonic and father of Mrs. C F Muckey of Mapleton. Mr. Newman passed away Wednesday morning follow a stroke.

Rev Garner Osborn, pastor of the Methodist church in Ticonic will officiate. Burial will be in
Grant cemetery with the Byers Funeral Home of Mapleton in charge.

Mr. Newman was born April 15 1873 to John and Anna Lyons Newman in Indiana. He came to Ticonic with his parents at the age of 7. He was married to Dora Peacock.

He is survived by two daughters Mrs. Sylvia Muckey and Mrs. Beulah Lucas of Smithland , and five sons John Newman, Leonard Newman and Fred Newman of Author, Charles Newman of Oto and Leland Newman of Ticonic.

He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Emma Lee of Hornick and Mrs. Allen Palmer of Sioux City, and a brother Ben Newman of Sioux City, and 17 grandchildren and 5 great – grandchildren. .
