Vivian L. Evenson, 92, of Rice Lake, Wis., formerly of Onawa, died Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Heritage Manor in Rice Lake.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, in Norwegian Country Cemetery, Soldier, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake.

She was born on Sept. 19, 1919 in Charter Oak, Iowa, to Cleon and Effie (Sowles) Jordan.

On Sept. 22, 1939, she married Martin V. Evenson at Norwegian Soldier Country Church in Soldier. They made their first home in Soldier before Martin joined the U.S. Army in March 1943 to serve during World War II. After returning home from overseas during World War II, Vivian and Martin made their home in Onawa, where they raised their two daughters, Vicky and Jeanna, and later taking an active role in the lives of their granddaughter, Heidi, and her son, their great-grandson, Wade Martin. Later in their lives, Vivian and Martin moved from Onawa to Brentwood Assisted Living in Rice Lake, to enjoy more time with their children.

She was active in Eastern Star and held many offices, and was active at Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa.

Vivian Evenson is survived by two daughters, Vicky (Ron Neitge) of Spooner, Wis., and Jeanna (Clark Elliott) of New Richmond, Wis.; a granddaughter, Heidi (Wayne Richey) of Cumberland, Wis.; a great-grandson, Wade Martin Jordan Richey of Cumberland; a sister and brother-in-law, Gwenith and Herbert Hahn Jr. of Omaha; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Evenson; her parents, Cleon and Effie Jordan; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Louise Jordan and Margaret and George Clark; and a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Flora Jordan.
