John A. Schoenherr, 81, of Mapleton, died Sunday, April 11, 1982 in a nursing home in Mapleton after a long illness.

Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury. The Rev. Gerald Zensen officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. The rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mr. Schoenherr was born July 26, 1900 to John Sr. and Madagaline (Lena) Schleimmer in Mapleton. He married Anna Gollhofer February 9, 1927, in Mapleton. They fanned in the Mapleton community, retiring in 1966. They lived in Sioux City for 14 years, returning to Danbury in 1980.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Mr. Schoenherr was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, John of Ida Grove, Harold of Sioux City and Jerry of Danbury; four daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Mildred) Vogelzang of Panama, Iowa, Mrs. Norbert (Marcella) Seitz of Omaha, Nebraska, Mrs. Ronald (JoAnn) Roberts of Omaha and Mrs. Harry (Darlene) Grochowski of Plantation, Florida; two brothers, Gerald of Sioux City and Walter of Merrill; six sisters, Mrs. Herman (Luella) Schramm and Mrs. Mary Hartnett, both of Sioux
City, Mrs. Irma Kreutner of Spencer, Mrs. Judy Fox of Yuma, Arizona, Mrs. Emmett (Lucy) Mohrhauser of Lake View and Mrs. August (Theresa) Stodden of Newton; 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Dan Schoenherr, Jeff Schoenherr, Richard Vogelzang, Scott Seitz, Tom Vogelzang, Kirtus Schoenherr, Jim Seitz, Kyle Schoenherr, Jerry Vogelzang and Mike Vogelzang, all grandsons.
