Alvy Schoenherr, age 79,of rural Glidden, Iowa, died Wednesday. April 17. 1996, at St. Anthony's Regional Hospital in Carroll following a brief illness.

Services were held 1 0 : 30a.m. Saturday a t St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden, Iowa, with Father Richard Kielbasa and Father Richard Remmes officiating. Sister Consilia was the lector. Gift bearers were Matt Steffes, Jill Schoenherr and Jamie Schoenherr and Mass servers were Marie Schoenherr, Mark Steffes and Kristin Kennebeck. Burial was in Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery, Glidden.

Alvy was a lifelong farmer having farmed north of Ute after his marriage, then he farmed in Guthrie County until 1952 and then in 1957 the Schoenherr moved to the Glidden area where he had farmed until the time of his death. He was born on September 13, 1916 a t Mapleton. Iowa, and was the son of Mike and Elizabeth Zeiman Schoenherr. He was married to Helene Staley on February 7, 1944 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Ute, Iowa.

Alvy was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden, Iowa. As a young boy, he attended St. Mary's School in Mapleton, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Helene of Glidden, Iowa; a son, Jim and his wife, Carolyn of Glidden, Iowa; a daughter, Ielene Steffes and her husband, Larry of Spencer, Iowa; a daughter, Jeanine Meiners and her husband, Ron of Carroll, Iowa; a daughter, Kathie Kasperbauer and her husband, Dennis of Spencer, Iowa; and a son, Jude and his wife, Judy of Dow City, Iowa; seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister. Sister Consilia Schoenherr of Sioux City, Iowa: a sister, Bernice Hageman of Charter Oak, Iowa, a sister. Sister Eileen Schoenherr of Cedar Rapids, Iowa: a sister, Stella Dietz and her husband, Paul of Des Moines; and a sister, Nora Flanigan and her husband, Joe of Mapleton, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Theresa Schoenherr, Rita Weber, Clara Pewick and one brother, Paul Schoenherr, and a daughter-i n-law, Lois Schoenherr.

Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters, Julie Schoenherr, Laura Schoenherr, Debbie Schoenherr, Jackie Meiners, Kala Kasperbauer and Marcie Schoenherr.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Jeff Meiners, Robb Steffes, Dan Schoenherr, Ryan Kasperbauer,
Shaun Meiners and Nick Steffes.
