Services Held Friday For Loren L Hewitt

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Congregational Church for Loren L. Hewitt, 71. Rev. John Roger officiated. Mr. and Mrs. John Willmott of Oto sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Have Thine Own Way.”

Pallbearers were Ed Myers, Arthur Jensen, Chris Jensen, Wilfred Eichhorn, Leonard Vaught and Delmar Willman. Burial was in the Grant Cemetery.

Loren L. Hewitt, son of Henry and Nettie Hewitt, was born July 4, 1886, near Holly Springs, Iowa. Later he moved with his parents to Rodney, Iowa. He was married August 27, 1908 to Lulu Carmen. He farmed in the Rodney vicinity a number of years and drove the school route for 28 years, from which he retired at the age of 65. He died at Rodney May, 21, 1958 after a two year illness.

Survivors include the widow, a son, Claire, of Rodney of Rodney; three daughters, Mrs. Wanda Ford of Rodney, Mrs. Erma Studyvin of Jefferson and Mrs. Retha Decker of Sioux Falls, S.D.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
