LENA LOUISA BLANKENHORN

Lena Louisa Blankenhorn, the daughter of Nina and Henry Bauman, was born March 6, 1887 in Monona County near Rodney, and died Wednesday, March 21, 1962 at a Sioux City hospital following a long illness. She was 75 years and 14 days old.

Mrs. Blankenhorn and her family resided near Rodney until her marriage, and after marriage she and her husband farmed five miles west of Mapleton where she lived for the remainder of her life. She was married to Charles E. Blankenhorn on Oct. 7, 1909. One son was born to this union.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1945, and since that time she had resided with her son and wife.

Survivors include: one son, Dale of Mapleton; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Parker and Mrs. Harold Gramm both of Rodney.

Services were held Saturday, March 24, 1962 at 10:30 a.m. at the Walter Chapel with Rev. Byron W. Ayers officiating. Pallbearers were: Francis Kafton, Arnold Grell, Raymond Marten, La- Dean Hagerdon, Herluf Kafton and Jesse Uhl. Burial was in Grant cemetery under the direction of the Walter funeral home.
