Henry Bauman Buried Saturday
Funeral Services Held at Ticonic for Monona County Pioneer

Funeral services for Henry Bauman, 78 – year’s old pioneer resident of Monona County who passed away Thursday of last week in the Lutheran hospital in Sioux City following an operation, were held Saturday afternoon in the Methodist church at Ticonic with Rev. A. Pruitt officiating.

Interment was in Grant cemetery under the direction of the Members of the Odd Fellow lodge Byers Funeral home of Mapleton were charge of services at the grave.

Mr. Bauman, son of Henry and Magdalena Bauman, was born at Miltonsberg, Ohio, January 5, 1859. He came to Monona county in 188I —56 years ago — and since 1886 had resided on his home place near Rodney.

He was married to Miss Nina Barber at the old Barber homestead January 5, 1886, by Rev. D. Billings of Smithland. They celebrated their "Golden Wedding '" anniversary in 1936.

Mr. Bauman was a charter member of the Odd Fellow and Rebekah lodges in Rodney and was a real pioneer of Monona County.

He is survived by his widow and three children, Mrs. Lena Blankenhorn of Mapleton and Mrs. Edith Gramm and Mrs. Irma Parker of Smithland. One daughter, Grace, preceded him in death November 16, 1894.

He is also survived by three grandchildren, five sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Koontz of Louisville, Ohio, Mrs. Kate Clause of Woodsfield, Ohio, Mrs. Louise Schmidt of Miltonsberg, Ohio, Mrs. Lucinda Bond and Mrs. Mary Schmidt of Turlock, Cal. and one brother, Philip Bauman, of Canton, Ohio.
